Rugby Maryland is the USA Rugby administrative area for youth and high school rugby in Maryland and the District of Columbia. The Potomac Youth Rugby League organizes and administers youth rugby in the Maryland and DC area. The league started with 4 teams in 1998, encompassing teams from DC, MD and VA. By 2006-07 the league had grown exponentially to dozens of teams playing in multiple age grade groupings. The growth allowed the league to create additional geographic divisions and the Virginia programs are now split from DC and Maryland. The league operates summer youth tag competition (co-ed) for U9, U11, U13, U15 children for member clubs across the state. Some of these clubs are sponsored by community youth sports organizations, by municipal parks and recreation departments and/or are independent youth organizations or part of a senior rugby clubs. The Potomac Youth Rugby League welcomes any new club.
