• 2018 Winter Clinic – Saturday Dec 15th

New players and veterans are welcome for our winter clinic on Saturday, December 15th, at Georgetown Prep. on the turf football field from 1:00-2:30.  The session is open to all boys in grades 5 through 8. This will include some basic learning of contact elements of the game.  NEW and experienced players are encouraged to attend!

Players must be registered with USARugby and have a mouthpiece to participate in the contact portion of the practice.  (so this is a great time for returning players to renew their registrations!). You can register here: https://webpoint.usarugby.org/

Use the search box to find the correct membership group in the state of Maryland and make sure you register with “Potomac Athletic Club Youth Tackle”.

Georgetown Prep – 10900 Rockville Pike, North Bethesda, MD 20852

The Potomac Athletic Club, offers “non-contact” tag rugby for boys and girls ages 5 through 15, and tackle rugby for boys through age 15 (8th grade). Youth “tag” rugby involves running, passing, kicking, offense, defense, scrums, lineouts, mauls, and scoring!  We also support introduction to tackle and development programs for our middle school (5th thru 8th grade) athletes who are interested in exploring the contact game.  This includes a spring tackle season for 5th thru 8th grade boys!  Our program is based in lower Montgomery Country (Silver Spring, MD) though players from any community are welcome.

Players must play both offense and defense because possession can and will change at any time. It brings together skills from lacrosse, soccer, basketball, lacrosse and football and a lot more…all wrapped into one, fast, exciting game.

For tag rugby the club participates in the Rugby Maryland Youth League with other under-9, under-11, under-13, under-15 teams from the Washington metro area.  Co-ed teams are organized to suit the number of youth in the tag program.  Also, we offer an “in-house” u7 program to teach the basics and encourage participation of all ages. The older of these players will sometimes get a chance to play in the under-9 games.  Typically, the under-9 and under-11 will practice together but play as u9 and u11 teams. Similarly the under-13 and under-15 squads train together though play in different age based divisions.  Occasionally players will cross over to a different age group if skill levels and competition is appropriate.
